Gift life: support families, journalists & artists in Gaza camps
Belgium
First target : 25 000 euros
For over a year and a half, Gaza’s people have endured relentless conflict, devastating bombings, and a crippling blockade that has caused a catastrophic humanitarian crisis. Hospitals operate beyond capacity; essential medicines and fuel are critically short; and famine has been officially declared, leaving vulnerable families and children at grave risk. The harsh conditions are taking a severe toll on all Gazans, including those who risk everything to document life in the midst of this tragedy.
Our campaign addresses three urgent priorities:
Support for Photojournalist Abood Abusalama and Family (50% of donations) Abood Abusalama, a courageous Palestinian photojournalist, has persistently documented the harrowing realities of Gaza’s refugee camps and frontlines. Due to the extreme working and living conditions, his health has severely deteriorated, compromising his ability to provide for his family at a time when food insecurity grips Gaza with famine declared. Abood now faces costly medical treatments that threaten both his health and livelihood. Half of the funds raised will go directly to supporting Abood and his family, ensuring he receives the care needed and can continue his vital work that brings global awareness to Gaza’s plight. Abood Abusalama, his brother Mohammed (also an engaged reporter) represent the enduring spirit of indipendent frontline journalism under siege. Your assistance aslo preserve crucial voices for the rights and dignity of Gaza’s civilians at time of profound crises.
Aid for Refugee Families with Children Across Gaza (25% of donations) Thousands of families in refugee camps throughout Northern, Central, and Southern Gaza live in destitution with limited access to assistance. The danger of traveling to aid distribution sites has increased due to deadly accidents and ongoing violence, leaving many without essential support. In partnership with the international citizens collective “Voices for Palestine” and Abood Abusalama family contacts, we will channel aid safely to these vulnerable families, providing food, water, and emergency supplies to protect children at greatest risk from starvation and neglect.
Among those children, you can discover the touching story of little Zein (8 years) who lost his mother. Zein’s story is one of 39 000 orphaned children of at least on parent in Gaza, today (more 17 000 have been orphaned of both parents): Zein’s interview
Pilot “Mutual Aid Fund” for Local Artists and Media Workers (25% of donations)
Amid constant displacement and bombardment, the psychological toll on Gaza’s residents is immense. Local artists, journalists, and media workers at the heart of the refugee camps use culture as a vital means of mental relief, community identity, and resilience. We will launch a pilot fund to support their creative projects and initiatives, fostering spaces for mental and social well-being, preserving cultural identity, and reinforcing community bonds that are essential for endurance in these darkest times.
Thank you for your urgent attention and solidarity,
Valeria
